Zoo animals (09/2013)

An outreach talk that I gave to the grade 5s and 6s at Bellevue Hill Public School in September 2013 on the evolution and ecology of animals in the zoo.  For this talk, I taped off a small circle on the stage and had one of the students sit in it for the whole talk;  at the end, I revealed that the area of the circle (which the student barely fit in) was what it would be like if her ‘home range’ was scaled down in the same proportion as an animal like a lion or tiger experiences in their cage.
